Beware of Dog-How to Protect Yourself From A Dog Bite.

Most dogs are friendly, you can never be sure if that
strange dog you meet on the street is friendly or not.

What you should do if you see a strange dog?

Here's some advice:

Never run from the dog.

Never stare at the dog.

Become a tree and stand still.

If dog doesn't leave right away, try to leave the dog by
moving slowly away at a sideways angle. Face the dog, but
don't look at it directly.

If you have something in your hand, like a ball, throw it away
from both you and the dog. The dog might then chase the ball
instead of you, and you will have a chance to get away. Never
throw anything directly at the dog.

Don't be outside alone at night, and try to stay away from areas
where you have seen stray dogs, day or night.
